Chicago Bars

The following bars are participating in the Cognac Classic Crawl in Chicago. Each will create a riff on a classic cognac cocktail.

Broken Shaker

River North’s latest hotel bar, Broken Shaker creates cocktails composed of elixirs, syrups and infusions made from garden herbs and spices, fresh-pressed produce and exotic ingredients from around the world, creating the perfect blend of ingredients and international flavors.

Drumbar is a speakeasy style, cocktail-focused rooftop bar off Michigan Avenue atop the Raffaello Hotel. Located in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, the moody yet energetic bar boasts an intimate indoor lounge area and a beautiful outdoor terrace with views of Lake Michigan and the Hancock building. Drumbar’s spirits menu is comprised of an unparalleled selection of earnestly sought after whiskeys, scotches, bourbons and cognacs, available by the glass.

Good measure

Located just beneath the Chicago Brown Line stop, this retro dive provides locals with an escape from their everyday routine. Housed in what was once a turn-of-the-century tailor shop, Good Measure pays tribute to the building's history, combining precision and craft. Design firm Siren Betty draws inspiration from the eras of Rockabilly and American Punk with classic checkered floors, vintage art, red neon and studded leather barstools.

sportsman’s club

Opened December 2013, Sportsman’s Club showcases classically inspired, spirit-forward cocktails that change daily and focus on balance and simplicity. The neighborhood tavern also offers craft beer and wine, as well as an amaro machine, carry-out liquor program and a thoughtfully curated bar goods shop.

vol. 39

Bound vintage law books and tufted leather couches are balanced by delicate details like intricate glassware and hanging lamps crafted from cut crystal decanters at Vol. 39. The menu offerings, from impeccable craft cocktails to small plates, are versions of the classics with a modern twist and a hint of irreverence.
